Are you actually trying to connect to an instance of SQL Server? Supply the full
instance name (including the backslash) in the Server Name part of the connection dialog. |

Yes. It's the accepted spelling of the noun in English.
The verb is "license".
This language is sometimes known as British English, but only by foreigners;)
